The Story of my Fat Elvis Costume

ᎣᏏᏲ. ᏙᎯᏧ? Hey, welcome back!

In 2009, some very good friends, Charley and Rachael, were married on Halloween. Their wedding was a costume party. I thought “every wedding needs a fat Elvis” so I bought a jumpsuit. I had another friend of mine, Steve, modify that jumpsuit with some satin, the cape, and the grommets. Since then, I’ve attended other weddings and parties as fat Elvis. When I left one job I modified some slacks with the same satin to make the bell bottom legs. On my last day, I wore the Elvis sunglasses, scarves, and a giant wing collar shirt all within the company dress code.

Here is just one pic from my first jumpsuit and a poster made for me that shows me in the jumpsuit.

The poster contains a lot of hidden gems related to shows I love – and since this is modeled after the Army of Darkness movie poster I wanted my wife to be there… she did not… so it’s Rob Lowe. He was supposed to be holding my dog Sprite, but I didn’t clarify that it was a dog. It commemorates my time as a medic, my love of Firefly, my love of The Prisoner, and Battlestar Galactica. The F-14 was supposed to be “inverted” as in upside down, but I didn’t clarify that either. So, I have the perfect poster.
