Day 1730

For the last week my waist has been 2 inches bigger than it has been for a year before. I don’t know why. It went from 42.5 to 44.5. This morning I woke up and my waist was 43. I dropped an inch and a half overnight. I read somewhere that your fat cells hold on to water, maybe something else too, and then when your body is satisfied it doesn’t need all of that the fat cells flush the water leading to loss. Idk if that’s true. I think there’s some research to be done.

I am very surprised that I’m not dying of hunger. I’m more surprised at how my body feels. I was a little sore and stiff last night before bed. I woke up this morning and I feel bigger and I’m not sore at all. Yesterday I felt like I still had a lot more workout to give. Today, I’m pushing a little harder than I did yesterday.

Day 1732

Yesterday was pretty rough. I took the day off from working out. I still did about 20 mins of lifting though. I had pretty intestinal pain. I imagine it’s from Flexeril causing constipation. However, this morning I woke up and was 2 pounds lighter. Idk how. I slept amazing last night though. Today is push-harder-than-I-did-before day.

I took some photos this morning. I’ve sucked in my belly before to see and I didn’t notice much difference between that view and just standing in front of the mirror. This morning I noticed a difference. I could see some definition. I can feel the difference. I have some tight muscle under this fat. That’s encouraging. I don’t just mean a little muscle either. There’s a lot of fat, but under it is a lot of solid muscle too. Some of it, I’m sure is from abs having to lift an extra 100 pounds to sit up and calves and butt having to walk around with nearly 300 pounds of weight. I have another 50 days left on this work. 10 days in and I feel amazing. I have more energy. My workouts feel insanely easy. I think I’m pushing hard and I find out the next set is easy. My movements are super slow and deliberate. I’m going to try a band pull up today and see how well that goes over. I’ve come close.

The band pull up was horrible. My elbows don’t appear to be made to lift nearly 300 pounds. I have to stop because of the pain in my elbows… even with the bands totaling nearly 250 pounds or so. I’ll have to continue to work with the TRX to build some of those muscles back up. I have Simonster’s Fit! app for his phases to increase upper body strength.

I just did a quick lift 8 reps of 17 pounds each on shoulder presses and holy crap it feels good. Later I’ll put on the weight vest and do some walking lunges and some TRX exercises. I’ll also try a TRX incline press – one of my favorite TRX exercises I’ve not done in a very long time. Right now, when I finish doing a set I feel, what I’m told is, the pump. It feels amazing to not be sore and dead tired while doing a set. I can tell i’m stressing my muscles in a good way. I am not completely exhausted and just done. This is new.

Day 1733

I was able to do a TRX incline plank for almost 2 mins. I did one TRX incline press. I did an easy workout yesterday – just a couple sets of the exercises. Today, I have a lot of stuff to do, however, my garmin speed and cadence sensor came in so I’ll put those on my stationary bike today. I’m also going to do some heavy reps of weights today.

I can sit on the bed and touch my toes… without moving fat out of the way. This is just 11 days in and I’ve lost 2 inches off my waist. When I “suck in” my belly I can see muscle definition. This isn’t muscle that I’ve just made it’s muscle that’s been there from all these years of sitting up and being fat.

Monday is the day that I hit my full workout plan in full stride. I’m still outlining exactly how I want my workouts to be for the next 49 days. I’ll be done with that today. The food has been amazing. I’ll share some of my substitutions. I haven’t been hungry at all. In fact, I’ve felt really full. I’m losing between 1/2 and 1 pound a day. I took caliper measurements this morning – 28,48,38 on chest, abs, thigh respectively. Then I plugged those numbers into Scooby’s Body Fat Calculator and my body fat percentage is about 33 and 197 lean body mass. That’s +2 pounds lean body mass since the last time I did the calipers (which you can read about here). I could be doing the calipers wrong, but I do them the same way each time based on Scooby’s video – so even if I’m not measuring exactly right, I’m measuring the same way.

Still substituting low calorie foods in for high calorie foods. Tastes great. I’m a bit distracted today with all that’s going on. I didn’t plan my day out so I’m just doing things and it kind of sucks because I don’t have a measurable goal.

I’ll check in another time and we’ll see how today goes.
