I pretty much followed this recipe. 1 cup of chicken broth. 1 egg. 1/4 tsp soy sauce and 1/4 tsp sesame oil. I boiled the broth, soy sauce and sesame oil. I beat an egg with a fork. Then as I slowly stirred the pot with the boiling broth mix I poured in the egg slowly. I removed it from the heat sprinkled salt and pepper in. Stirred a bit. Let sit for a few mins and then ate it. It is missing something but idk what. Otherwise it was perfect.
The story
At the end of June I had hit the highest weight I’ve ever been at 336. It was time to kick myself in the ass like I did in 2018 and drop weight and get in shape again.
For three weeks I had changed my diet. I would like to say that meant I wasn’t eating many crappy foods and I just had to adjust. However, the real answer is that I had gone through a pretty rough time. I’m a food addict. I’ve been known to drive to Casey’s and pick up a bunch of stuff and then eat a bunch on the way home. So for three weeks I dropped everything except veggies and fruit. That meant I was drinking Coke, still, eating 2 or more apples a day and then if I was hungry some veggies. Veggies are any vegetable or what people consider vegetable even if they’re a starch (like corn but not potatoes). I did have to make some trips and on those trips I ate some breakfast a Coke, then I’d have some grilled chicken on the way back and only water the rest of the time.
Last Friday I started to feel a cramp in the middle of my stomach. I thought maybe I just needed a BM. I flushed a lot of water through my system. Saturday morning I wasn’t better. I still drove my son and his friend 3 hours to an event. I was miserable the whole way and it kept getting worse. By the time I was headed back my stomach pain got incredibly worse and back pain started just below the right shoulder blade. That told me it was probably duodenitis. I hoped not, but I was probably right. After all, I’ve had it twice before. It was the most miserable drive home.
When I got to the house I resorted to the comfort items. I was no longer hungry so drinking water and taking super hot showers was it. I didn’t last long. About 2 hours later I decided to go to urgent care. From that point on everything got much, much, much worse. The pain reached an 8. The first time I had duodenitis it was a 1 billion. The second time I had it it was about a 9.9. I was sure the pain was duodenitis. It took a long, long time for labs and imaging to come back. I was right, it was duodenitis… and pancreatitis. I don’t drink alcohol. I don’t have a gall bladder. So now I have an appointment with a GI doc to see if we can figure out what’s going on before my pancreas is damaged (more?).
So, this week I’ve had soup. Some with “filling” and some without. I decided to find some recipes of items that tasted good, were filling, and I could still drop weight and get in shape. That led to some recipes involving egg drop soup, chicken soup, potstickers (not oil fried), pasta salad, and a few others. I haven’t had any caffeine in almost a week, no dairy, no grains except if you consider any of the small amounts of pasta.
In about a month I’m down 20 pounds. I also feel spectacular. So let’s see how it goes.
Until next time. Dodadagohvi. ᏙᏓᏓᎪᎲᎢ.
